I promise I’ll get my words back soon

Humbled and at a loss for words. My gratitude for the amazing Twin Cities welcome I’ve received is crowding out my vocabulary, it seems.

  1. I went to Muji today, a Japanese store smack dab in the middle of over the top wacky touristy Hollywood. I bought (amongst other things) a little tiny “deck” of notes on a binder ring – just big enough for a word or two on each slip. My intent is to start a word collection – words that I like, words that I want to use more, words that sound nice, words that are unfairly disused. It feels so magical to collect words – almost religious – like tiny runic talismans against, well, I don’t know what they’ll save me from. Maybe you just need a collection, too, so you don’t lose them for long.

  2. They can save you from losing your soul when you can’t avoid conversations with dullards.
